Subject: Marijuana Legalization

Only in the bizarre world of governments do they believe that they can control the sale of legalized marijuana to minors when for decades they have been unable to control the illegal sale to minors. Governments have created generations of scofflaws who have grown, harvested, processed, exported, sold, purchased and used marijuana with minimal government interference.

The marijuana trade is so lucrative that growers caught can afford to walk away from a few thousand dollars in lost product and equipment to set up and continue operations elsewhere. Those left in charge of the growing plants are expendable employees who cant finance a house purchase and grow equipment. The people who financed (and profit from) the grow project are rarely caught.

The current growers of marijuana are not going anywhere. Some may invest some of their earnings in legal marijuana operations to earn income they dont have to launder. Dealers will adapt and continue to serve long-time customers, including minors. Some of the dealers are minors.

The puffery about regulating sales is just that a lot of hot air and promises that cannot be kept. The huge trade in illegal tobacco products suggests that government efforts to control marijuana use will suffer a similar fate.

Apparently, governments dont learn from past mistakes and repeat the same errors endlessly while expecting different results. We build asylums for people so afflicted. In this case we dont have to build anything we just wait until parliament is in session and lock the doors.
