Re: �Most important game in town is disruption,� by Martin Pelletier, �Disruption�s virtues,� by Jack M. Mintz and �Oil majors taking shine to wind, solar: report,� by Geoffrey Morgan, June 13.
Both Martin Pelletier and Jack Mintz talked about the power of disruption on the economy, but they never mentioned the greatest �disruption� about to be unleashed by Elon Musk and his all-electric Tesla 3.
Elon Musk, founder of California-based Tesla Motor Corp., has been producing his highly sought after luxury electric car Tesla SUV. Now he is about to mass produce his all-electric Tesla 3 by the end of this year. Model 3 is meant to appeal to the masses at $35,000 before incentives and more than 200 miles per charge. By comparison, the average new gas-powered cars in the U.S. sells for about $33,000. Tesla will mass produce 500,000 electric cars per year.
Already, Tesla Motors has overtaken the General Motors in capitalization. Investors are quick to realize the potential of electric cars with the price going down and the range going up.
And Tesla is not alone. Later this year, Chevrolet will roll out its $30,000 Bolt EV. It, too, boasts more than 200miles of range, aimed at eliminating �range anxiety,� the fear that a vehicle will run out of juice. VW has pledged to make every model as a plug-in hybrid by 2025. Every plug-in is effectively an electric car carrying a �range extender� just in case.
And this is just start. Pasquale Romano, CEO of ChargePoint Inc., the world�s largest maker of electric charging stations, says he works with major car companies. �We have seen their plans to just electrify everything,� he said. Tesla is also promising to build thousands of charging stations all over the U.S. Most charging will take place at night when the demand for electricity is low.
Also charging stations with solar panels will accelerate the electric-car revolution. �The electric-car story is good � it�s better than internal combustion from an environmental point of view � but electric cars powered by solar: That�s kind of nirvana from an environmental perspective,� said Karl Brauer, executive publisher of Autotrader. Elon Musk is also the CEO of Solar City�the largest maker of solar panels in America. This also explains why oil giants are investing in renewable sources of energy like solar and wind.
With millions of cars not using gasoline most of the time, carbon emissions will drop precipitously. We won�t need a carbon tax to keep fossil fuel use down. The coming electric-car revolution will take care of it. Governments can speed up �disruption� by installing charging stations everywhere.
If Tesla can deliver on its promises with the Model 3, gas cars are history. It will be horse and buggy days for gas cars and with it, fossil fuels.

Subject: Government announces $2.65B to help developing countries fight climate change
How many of you remember this pledge by the Trudeau government? November 2015 is only 18 months ago. Trudeau doubles down on the Harper government�s plan because he could.
The smart-ass one-upmanship is one reason why we suffer huge deficits and debt while sending $ billions out of the country for boutique causes.
The additional $1.5 billion could have been spent on our crumbling infrastructure and military rather than building windmills in Guatemala. It infuriates me that our government is sending off $ billions to other nations without having our financial house in order first.
Yes, the oceans are rising � at a rate of about 20 cm. (8 inches) per century or about 8/10 of an inch per year. Anguish over Pacific island sinking in the seas are somewhat exaggerated as is the whole global warming/climate change scam.
Incidentally, why has fear of global warming become �climate change� when the whole purpose of the Paris Agreement is to maintain the average temperature of the earth? When someone is trying to sell you something but keeps changing the language to make it more attractive, you can rest assured that you are dealing with a fraud artist.
Climate change is in the same category as the e-mail from a Nigerian prince and the phone call about the fabulous vacation trip you won without entering any contest � all you have to do is send money and . . . . . . .
